Dear Friends & Supporters:
FOGG thanks all those who attended, gave testimony or sent letters to the Port on the RFP (Request For Proposals) Informational Meeting held Tuesday May 27th, concerning Seawall Lot 351. It is always appreciated to see the support we have.
However, those who attended are aware that the developer (Mr. Snellgrove) pulled out all the stops with testimony from many special and private interest supporters. They put on quite a show to influence the Port in moving ahead on the RFP, as the first step in Mr. Snellgrove’s efforts to obtain Seawall Lot 351. We expect Mr. Snellgrove will work on removing the Public Trust now protecting the property, so he can move ahead with his 170 luxury condominiums and 500+ space parking lot.
There was some satisfaction in observing this charade in that they probably got a wake up call when they saw the large turn out FOGG supporters generated at the April 14 Port’s workshop, and felt pressure to turn the Port their way.
What it really means is this could be a long and hot summer. We must be geared up for whatever is thrown our way, and there could be plenty of fireworks. FOGG does not take the opposition lightly, and we want our Friends & Supporters to be kept abreast of all that is going on and how we are planning to succeed in what we all wish for – keeping the open recreational space for our neighborhood, and the broad community of support for our mission.
This, of course, also means a lot of legal effort and research as we move on. It has been a while since we talked about financial support, but this is definitely the right time to ask that you seriously consider making your tax deductible donation to FOGG. We need to build up our war chest NOW.
You may make your tax deductible deduction to AGAPE/FOGG, with the notation on the memo line: “tax deductible donation.” Please mail your check to James Eggert, Treasurer, 550 Davis St. #46, San Francisco, CA 94111. You may also donate at this web site. We are confident that your commitment to FOGG’s efforts on your behalf will bear fruit and thank you in advance for your support.
We also want to advise you of a very important meeting next week.
The Northeast Waterfront Advisory Group (NEWAG) will be meeting on Wednesday, June 4, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Port’s Bayside Conference Room, Pier 1 on the Embarcadero. Seawall Lot 351 and the RFP is on the Agenda. Anyone who wishes to listen and participate on further discussion of what is the future of this Public Trust Lot, and its possible impact on future development of the adjoining open recreational space, is urged to attend.
Again, we welcome your comments and your continued support.
