FOGG Open Letter – May 3, 2009

We are pleased to say that our FOGG team has grown in the past several months to over 2,100 people.  Thanks to all of our new supporters!

We are even more pleased to say that our volunteers are moving in many positive directions, including our new Fundraising Committee.

Under the professional leadership of Fermin Nasol and Janet Lautenberg as Co-Chairs, the Committee is actively pursuing a planned program to raise at least $25,000 for 2009.  The Fundraising Committee will be asking our supporters for donations of $150 to $1,000 (or more).  USTA League Team Captains are being sent our fundraising letter.  The initial response is very positive.  The Committee will proceed with sending the fundraising letter to the swimmers, followed by the fitness members, and also to our many supporters who are not Club members.  FOGG supporters who have previously donated since 2003 will also receive a fundraising letter.

Working with Fermin and Janet are Committee members Ghada Aboukhater, Evangeline Amores, Erik Christiansen, Lucy Craig, Evan Filler, Tim Geraci, Bob Howard, Bob Iwersen, Houry Nadjarian, Deborah Smith and Alex Tokar.  FOGG so much appreciates their time and commitment.

All donations are tax deductible.  Over 95% of what we have raised since 2003 has been for legal fees for our recognized and well regarded land use attorney, Sue Hestor.

We are in a critical yet exciting time in FOGG’s six year effort to preserve our open recreational space and prevent its drastic reduction in size – over 52%.

As we mentioned earlier, many of you will be receiving an individual letter or email requesting a financial donation.  We’d be most pleased if you would make a tax deductible donation now and help the FOGG Fundraising Committee reach its 2009 goal.

Lastly, we are extremely thankful to all of you who responded to our April 23rd Open Letter for volunteers to help with our Save the Club Petition.  Your response is beyond what we had hoped for.  We are certain that we will prevail in our mission to save the open recreational space at the Club which we all treasure.

We cannot do this without each of you, and we thank you for all of your help.
