FOGG Reminder – September 24, 2009

FOGG wants to remind you about the next Planning Department Workshop, scheduled for WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 6:00 – 8:00 PM – PORT COMMISSION HEARING ROOM, FERRY BUILDING, 2ND FLOOR.

We ask our friends and supporters to attend this very important Workshop.

The Planning Department will be presenting the Northeast Embarcadero Study’s Draft Recommendations for open space, improvements to the public realm, and urban design guidelines for new development.  There will also be discussions considering height limits and other important items that FOGG will continue to present including sea levels rising in the Bay, shadow studies, public views, zoning and much more.

We need your active participation at this Workshop.  FOGG is sure that the opposition to keeping our open recreational space in its entirety, and the push to for development of two 85 foot high luxury condominiums, and a 400 plus space underground parking garage will be there.  We need our friends and supporters to speak out with truth and determination.

We honestly have felt that up to now both the Planning and Port staff have not been open to what the majority of the neighbors and concerned City wide citizens, consider a broad and real plan for the Seawall Lot 351/8 Washington Street proposed project.  These include lower height limits, open recreational space, a plan to make the west side of the Embarcadero as people friendly as the Waterside, and more open space for passive and active participation.

Your attendance will go a long way in helping FOGG continue its efforts to save our open recreational space.

There will be an optional walking tour of the area on the same date from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm led by Planning Department staff.  The tour group will meet in front of the fountain at the Justin Herman Plaza.  You are welcome to attend.
