FOGG Open Letter – November 25, 2014

FOGG, thanks to our volunteers and many others, has much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving Day.

With the great campaign led by our NO WALL ON THE WATERFRONT partners, many community members, and the voters of San Francisco, the proposed 8 Washington Street high rise luxury condominium development went down to an ignominious defeat at the polls in November, 2013.

We are forever thankful for the successful work on our behalf by our three attorneys; Sue Hestor, Louise Renne, and Susan Brandt-Hawley. They’ve been outstanding in preparing the critical legal work needed to confront the developers. While lawsuits are still pending, their research and legal smarts have been invaluable.

Thanks to The Bay Club at The Gateway management and Summer Kids Camps staff for their cooperation in providing one scholarship for everyone FOGG and you, our donors, provided. It was a successful and fun filled Summer Kids Camps for these youngsters from low income housing.

FOGG looks forward to another successful Scholarship Summer Kids Camps program in 2015. We again give thanks to the generosity of our supporters and their tax deductible donations.

FOGG recognizes the battle to preserve our community’s outdoor recreational space is still ongoing. Any development plan coming forward for the adjacent Seawall Lot 351 (SWL351) must be compatible not only for our neighborhood, but be one that benefits the people of San Francisco and its many visitors. Our mission will continue.

With your support and that of our many community partners, we will prevail.

Have a really enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday!
